Alumni Alliance Looks to Grow Membership in First Year

MIAMI---Since 1996, Take Stock in Children has graduated 17,000 students from high school. With this number growing every year so does our Alumni base. In order to reconnect Take Stock in Children Alumni with the organization that gave them the opportunity to go to college a group of Alumni converged for a Leadership Summit in February of 2011 to build the foundation of an Alumni Alliance. Alumni Alliance President, Jared Torres, had this to say from his Tallahassee office, "Alumni associations are a vital part of colleges and universities across the globe. They become volunteers and even donors to the institutions they attended. It made logical sense for Take Stock in Children to move in this direction by creating an association for their alumni." The eight participants in the conference represented different regions of the state and have formed a Leadershp Board in order to promote the mission and goals and objectives of the group. "We are happy to be a part of this," said Latishia Williams of Madison County. The general consensus was that this an exciting opportunity for all those involved to give back to the program that gave them so much.
