Joining the organization in December, 2009, Dr. Arencibia develops and implements Take Stock in Children’s program standards for enhanced state-wide student/mentor grade specific curriculum and college transition and retention services. She also serves as the liaison between the Florida Department of Education and the state office regarding grade level specific academic and standardized test requirements. In this role, Dr. Arencibia also provides leadership and high quality training and education to all local program executive directors for improving program operations and implementing action plans.
Prior to joining Take Stock in Children, Dr. Arencibia served as the Senior Educational Consultant of The Group Associates. In that role, she designed, developed, and implemented a variety of bilingual training interventions including classroom based instruction, multi-media resources, and web-based training. She led a team of experts in planning, designing, and implementing a web-based educational course for state certification.
Prior to joining The Group Associates, Dr. Arencibia was an educator. She held teaching positions in public and private elementary schools. As a Reading Specialist, her focus was on providing reading intervention to elementary students falling in the lowest 25% of the school’s student body. She also conducted research on using on-going progress monitoring as a tool in raising the reading achievement of students learning English as a second language. Committed to education, she continues to provide reading intervention to K-12 struggling readers.
Dr. Arencibia’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, summa cum laude, from Florida International University; a Master of Science in Reading Education from Barry University; and a Doctor of Education, Organizational Leadership concentration, from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Arencibia resides in Miami, Florida with her family.
