With a century-long commitment to building strong communities in Florida and investing in its residents, Bealls, Inc. celebrated its 100th Anniversary by supporting Take Stock in Children’s Strides for Education 5Ks. Setting the pace for success, Bealls sponsored Take Stock’s signature event helping to raise nearly $1 million in college funds for deserving, low-income students.
“We are so thankful to everyone at Bealls for supporting this year’s Strides for Education events,” said Take Stock in Children President and CEO Jillian Hasner. “Together, with partners like Bealls, we are making tremendous strides for Florida’s youth living in poverty by providing them with an educational pathway through scholarships, mentors and hope.”
From the Panhandle to Palm Beach, 8,000 participants walked or ran in a Strides for Education 5K during 2015 to raise scholarships for at-risk youth. For over 20 years, Take Stock in Children has helped more than 26,000 children stay in school, graduate from high school, complete college and become productive citizens. Over 96% of Take Stock scholars graduate high school and 96% go on to pursue a post-secondary education, well over the national average.
“I’ve been very impressed with the success that Take Stock in Children has achieved steering young people on a pathway to success in their education and their lives. The success results from the culture of caring that permeates the organization and from the mentoring program that is there for the students every step of the way. We’re proud of our relationship with Take Stock in Children,” said Stephen M. Knopik, Chief Executive Officer, Bealls, Inc.
