What is a Take Stock Mentor?

A Take Stock in Children mentor is a caring, compassionate adult who chooses to devote their time to a young person. Take Stock Mentors offer support, guidance, and encouragement. A Take Stock Mentor can change a life by helping a child build confidence, a solid foundation of values, establish goals, and improve their academic skills.

A Take Stock Mentor will receive training and resources to support their student's academic success. Take Stock in Children is an academically focused mentoring program that guides students towards successful completion of high school and enrollment in college.

A Take Stock Mentor signs a contract committing to donate up to one hour per week mentoring their student in-person or virtually

A Take Stock Mentor must submit an application and pass a background check through their local Take Stock in Children affiliate.

Each year Take Stock recognizes a distinguished Mentor who goes above and beyond in their role as a mentor to support the mission of Take Stock in Children to end poverty through education, and help students achieve through scholarships, mentors, and hope so they can succeed in college, career, and life.
