Terrance Gilliam

Terrance revised

County: Sarasota

Take Stock in Children is proud to recognize Terrance Gilliam as this year's recipient of our 2016 Alumni of the Year Award. A graduate of Sarasota High School, he went on to study at Florida A&M University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing in 2011.

While in school, Terrance interned at the TSIC Sarasota office during school breaks, always keeping a connection to the program that he credits with changing his life. After graduation, Terrance returned to Sarasota to begin his career. He currently works as a Revenue Specialist for the Florida Department of Revenue and as a realtor for Exit Realty.

Inspired by his own experience as a TSIC scholar and knowing firsthand the benefits of mentoring, Terrance signed up as a mentor for the TSIC Sarasota program. He has worked with Ryan Jenkins, a Sarasota High School student, for the past three years, to make sure Ryan stays on track to graduate and go to college. Terrance also serves as a TSIC Ambassador by assisting the Sarasota program with mentor recruitment, special events, fundraising, and assisting TSIC families in finding safe and affordable housing. Take Stock in Children salutes Terrance in playing a vital role in continuing the success of our program and exemplifying the transformative effect of higher education and mentoring.
