Sophia Monsalve

Sophia is a Crystal River High School senior ranked 5/262 in her class.  She is a certified Biotechnician Assistant and would like to pursue a career in biomedical engineering.  Her academic life involves the National Honor Society, AVID, Model United Nations, Interact Club, Key Club, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), and the Academy of Health Careers – Biomedical Science pathway. 

Her extracurriculars include ten years as a Girl Scout, participating on the varsity swim team and varsity tennis, and working as a lifeguard.  Sophia also finds time to be involved with the Student School Spirit Council, Student Ambassador for underclassmen, Homecoming Court, volunteering at the Family Resource Center, and the Youth Leadership Citrus Project, Lead the Way.  Sophia also volunteers at the Key Training Center, where she helps provide a vision for all with disabilities to enjoy community life without discrimination.

Sophia sees leadership qualities such as “responsibility, inspiration, adaptability, effective communication, and humility.”  She dreams of someday working at Johnson and Johnson to develop technological advances to improve robotics, prosthetics, and new medications.  She will attend the University of Florida in 2023.
