Thuy was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in 2001. With the support of TSIC and L4L, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physiology and kinesiology. During her time at UF, Thuy served as an official representative of the Honors Program through her participation in Honors Ambassadors. Her clinical experience primarily stems from her intensive involvement with the Mobile Outreach Clinic (MOC), first as a volunteer and then as the volunteer coordinator. Thuy worked under Dr. Edward Chan as an undergraduate assistant and then as a University Scholar to elucidate composition and function of novel subcellular macromolecular structures called rods and rings. Her research was published twice in 2016. Additionally, Thuy’s senior thesis focused on physical activity interventions in underserved populations, particularly the MOC patient population. In her free time, Thuy enjoys running and reading. She is currently a fourth-year medical student at the Florida State University College of Medicine with strong interest in public health, policy advocacy, addiction medicine, and women’s health. She is pursuing Emergency Medicine and hopes to incorporate all her interests with clinical medicine for a rewarding career.
