As we close on Volunteer Month, we’re proud to highlight one outstanding mentor from the Take Stock in Children program operated by the Pinellas Education Foundation.
Vernon Bryant has been a Take Stock volunteer mentor for three years. Since 2018, Vernon has made a difference at Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School by mentoring students, serving on the School Advisory Council, and supporting the Interact Club.
“We don’t even understand sometimes the impact that we can have for generations just by spending a little time with some kids and encouraging them,” he shared.
Now, he’s not only been named Pinellas County Schools’ Senior Volunteer of the Year, he’s also a state finalist for Florida’s Outstanding Senior Volunteer Award.
We’re grateful to Vernon and all our volunteers for making a lasting impact on students’ lives!
