What is the Mentorship Program for At-Risk Male Students (MPARMS)?
The MPARMS initiative addresses the widening postsecondary enrollment and degree attainment gap between genders by intentionally recruiting, enrolling, and supporting more at-risk male students. By providing a mentor, academic guidance, and college readiness coaching, Take Stock will empower more at-risk male students to break the cycle of poverty through education.
Mentors play a critical role in helping students fulfill their limitless futures. Take Stock empowers students to fulfill their dreams by offering coaching and resources to graduate high school and pursue postsecondary education. With support from Take Stock volunteer mentors and college coaches, many students improve academically, grow personally, and are inspired to achieve their dreams. Whether a student wants to pursue a bachelor's degree or career certification, Take Stock can help them achieve success.

Why Become a Mentor with Take Stock in Children?
Mentors can change the life of an at-risk male student just by being present.
Mentors, particularly male mentors, become friends and role models to at-risk male students who often lack male guidance. Mentors share their life experiences and career journeys and coach students to accomplish their goals by simply investing their time. According to the Mentor organization, 85% of young people with a mentor say this key relationship has helped with school-related issues and their education.
